I knew that I might be able to find some spare parts at the swap meet so I set out for the three hour drive on that Saturday morning. I would have never guessed that in addition to the spare parts for poweredge servers that I found, I also got six used servers that were in excellent condition.

They all asked me to get the name of the company he had used so that they could give it to their computer teams. I guess that he might be a little upset with me for getting to the dell repair store so late, but I was also picking up his dry cleaning and coffee before heading here so it is technically his fault. If I had come straight here I might have been able to get at least one of the poweredge servers for one of us, I would have given it to him probably.

As computer technology moves forward every day, something new and better is created. If you bought one of the iseries servers, then there was probably something bigger and better the following day. If there was something better than what you had, wouldn’t you want it? That is not always the case with technology. Some people are very happy with what they have. If it is not broke then do not fix it that is usually the saying.

I had just bought an ibm computer, when the next day they launched a new version of it. I really liked the used ibm that I had gotten at a garage sale. The old owner was probably getting the newer version. I was happy with the used ibm though, there really was not anything wrong with it, other than it was a later model then what was currently out.

So, if it is one of the iseries servers, or a used ibm computer, you need to see if you are comfortable with what you have and then decide if you need the newest and bigger and better thing. Or if what you have is working just fine. If it is working just fine, then I say keep it until it gives you a reason to get rid of it.

I bought a used dell monitor at a garage sale last year, and stuck it up in the attic just in case mine ever quit working. I had completely forgotten about it until I was up there getting my Christmas decoration out for the holiday season.
