IBM pSeries servers are a popular choice among IT consultants for server needs of the office.   That is why our IT department specifically stated this during their meeting for this year’s budget setting.  They really wanted to upgrade the existing computer and server equipment that we had for some of it was quite outdated.  Also, most of the computers in the office were already slow that it cannot keep up with the demand of the work.

Of course, productivity is always a priority in the office which is why the management tried their best to give a huge chunk of the requested budget.  However, since profits are down due to the economic downturn that has sadly affected our business, it just cannot all be accommodated.  The budget of the other departments will have to suffer if the IT will get everything.

To make up for the lack of funds but still be able to upgrade, they considered using used IBM servers instead.  They knew where to source great refurbished units that looked and worked like brand new ones.  It is still getting the computing power of an IBM server but at a much more affordable price.
