The idea of selling old silver dollar pieces to me is crazy. I would rather hang on to them for the next twenty years and then see how much I can get for them. I would venture to guess that they will never make another big coin like that again either, so the longer you hold it, the more valuable it will become. Now, my best friend had a big collection of coins and then had to sell silver to help pay the rent one month.

I guess if it is very much a must do situation than selling old silver dollar pieces is okay in some situations. If you are just looking to get the price of weight of them in money then you are truly not a collector anyway. I read a book that was true about a boy who collected coins from the time he was just five years old, till he was ready to retire. He sold the entire collection for over two million dollars and retired very nicely.

Now that is the smart way to sell silver and that is what I am going to try to do. If I come across anyone down on their luck, then I will just add to my pieces and help them out at the same time.
